Memorial complex of Soldier Glory
The memorial of Soldier’s Glory was opened is In October, 1969 as contribution of a lost warriors in the years of Great Patriotic war. Authors are E. Kuntsevich, I. Mezentsev, G. Kusluy, L. Vayngort. The 22-meter obelisk with the inscription «Glory of heroes is immortal» is in the center of Memorial. The 6-meters sculpture of soldier is alongside. There is a shield in his hands. The Eternal fire is an eternal memory about lost at the foot. The lines on the flags of brotherly graves testify to the courage of warriors, partisan that had fall on the Poltava land.
There were buried the lieutenant-general A. Zygin, the colonel V. Balakin, the colonel P. Barbin, the hero of Soviet Union colonel N.Kycherenko and his son is a lieutenant N. Kucherenko, the colonel À. Holodny and a lot of other. More than hundred of a soviet warriors got the rank of Hero of the Soviet Union for exploits on the Poltava land; 27 from them — posthumous. The 394 warriors perish by death of brave in the battles for release of the city.
