Temple of Saints Faith, Hope and Charity
The Church on honor of great martyrs Sts. Sophia and her Three Daughters, Faith, Hope, and Charity was raised in 2002 due to the city authorities and woman’s religious community of Poltava. The project author is the honoured Ukrainian artist — Anatoly Chernoschokov. The new-raised church was sanctified by Phillip — the bishop of Poltava and Kremenchug.
In the middle of the church, there is a fretted iconostasis, which rises up to the church height and encloses the Terrestrial Habitation of Christ; the iconostasis was made by workers of «Syaivo» firm, in Lvov. Some of the church icons were brought from Pochayiv Lavra. Petr Gumenyuk, Viktor Trohimets-Milyutin and Vasily Korkyshko were the artists who created the biblical mural paintings.
The five-domed church built in classicism style is crowned by more than 5 meters high cross. There are 7 bells in five decorative domes of the church. All the bells were founded at Poltava factory of diesel locomotives repairing. The largest bell is named «Poltava» and has a weight of 597,45 pounds.
